COVID-19

Covid-19 Informed Consent

This page contains important information about our decision (students, parents, and instructors) to resume full-time or part-time in-person music lessons for our 2021-2022 school year. Please read the following information carefully before attending in-person lessons at Voice in the Valley Music Studio.

Resuming In-Person Lessons

We will be resuming weekly in-person lessons during our 2021-2022 school year. If at any time the student/parent/instructor would like to change to online lessons, we will respect that decision. We understand that by resuming in-person lessons, we are assuming the risk of exposure to the coronavirus.

Steps to Minimize Exposure

To resume in-person lessons students/parents/instructors agree to take certain precautions which will help keep everyone safe from exposure or sickness.

  • We will maintain 3-6ft of distance between instructor/student and parent/instructor whenever possible.
  • There will be no physical contact between instructor and student. (Students will need to tune and adjust their instrument with only verbal guidance by the teacher (and hands-on help from the parent).
  • Masks will be mandatory for all group classes and in common areas (lobby, bathroom, etc.).
  • Students and instructors must wash hands or use sanitizer before each lesson.
  • Students must supply their own pencil, rosin, sheet music, paper, etc.
  • We will collectively take steps between lessons to minimize possible exposure to Covid-19:
    • Music stands, chairs, handles, keyboards and any touched surfaces will be sanitized between each student by the teacher.
  • Parents of students who are old enough to enter the studio on their own, we ask that you please remain in your vehicle to limit the number of people in the studio at any one time.

Illness or Exposure Policies

  • PLEASE DO NOT COME TO YOUR LESSON IF YOU ARE FEELING ILL!
  • If you or anyone in your household is feeling ill with any symptoms remotely resembling those of Covid-19 we ask that you please stay home and notify your instructor immediately (email, text, or via TeacherZone)
    • If symptoms are mild and a lesson is manageable, it will be taught online for 1-2 weeks or until the student/teacher is healthy.
    • For the safety of our teachers and students, if you/your child come to a lesson visibly ill, your instructor will immediately cancel the lesson and no refund or make up lesson will be offered.
    • Should your instructor get sick, we will make every effort to secure a substitute teacher.
      • Should a substitute teacher not be available, we will offer a refund or a make up lesson for the teacher absence.
    • We do not offer refunds or make up lessons for student absences/cancellations. Please see details on our policy page.
  • If any student/parent/instructor has knowingly been in close contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19 we will immediately inform one another in order to begin contact tracing and notify all persons.
    • If symptoms are mild and a lesson is manageable or no symptoms are present, the lesson will be taught online for the following 2 weeks (10-day quarantine)
  • If any student/parent/instructor test positive for Covid-19 we will immediately inform one another in order to begin contact tracing and notify all persons.
    • If symptoms are mild and a lesson is manageable or no symptoms are present, the lesson will be taught online for the following 2 weeks (10-day quarantine)
